Market Access
Globalization is rapidly modifying the manufacturing sector and the competitive environment in which companies are increasingly being required to operate is affected by structural and pervasive changes that require great capacity for adaptation.
One of the key elements of economic recovery is to access international markets.
Manufacturers of machinery, electrical equipment and systems must have a detailed knowledge of the rules of export, with particular reference to technical standards, laws and certifications required in various countries, but the language difficulties, the lack of homogeneity and complexity of the regulations and the limited availability of information and adequate assistance, are now the greatest obstacles to the take-off of this process.
The experts of MTIC Group provide companies with an excellent knowledge of the requirements and regulations applicable in each reference market so that preventive and corrective actions can be taken and improvements can be made to the products to be placed on foreign markets from the early stages of their life cycle.
NR-12 | Brazil
Manufacturers of machinery and industrial plants that want to export their products to Brazil face compliance issues with Brazilian regulatory standards and in particular with the NR-12: Equipment and Machinery.
It is legal instrument issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment of Brazil that regulates and provides guidance on mandatory procedures related to occupational safety and health defining the minimum requirements for the prevention of accidents resulting from the use of machinery and industrial plants throughout their life cycle, from design to disposal. Regulation NR-12 is based on the fail-safe principle and therefore requires that a system goes into a safe state when a safety related components fails.
Before the machine is put into service in Brazil, the conformity check is carried out under the responsability of a professional technical figure registered with the Brazilian Regional Council of Engineering, Agriculture and Agronomy (CREA), who inspects the equipment by issuing and recording the Technical Responsability Note (TRN).
EMS BRAZIL by MTIC Group is a modular voluntary service structured in phases that was created to accompany manufactures of machines and plants in the complex process of certification of their products for the Brazilian market.
UL, AINSI & IEEE | USA
North America is an important reference market for European and, in particular, Italian manufacturers.
The legal basis for the safety of machinery and eletrical equipment in the workplace is the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health - e.g. 29 CFR 1910 Subpart O Machinery and Machine guarding and Subpart S Eletrical) regulations at federal level.
The OSHA codes, besides being legal in nature, contain relevant technical requirements and define the reference standards, called consensus standards.
- Eletrical Safety: eletrical safety is considered of primary importance. The key reference in the eletrical field is the National Eletrical Code (N.E.C.), which requires that eletrical equipment be approved. This generally involves the intervention of a third party body accredited in USA by OSHA (NTRL). The product standards for switchboards, eletrical equipment of low and medium voltage equipment machines are UL, ANSI and IEEE.
MTIC Group's EMS USA is a modular voluntary service structured in phases that was created to accompany manufacturers of machines and plants in the complex process of certification of their products for the North American market.
SASO | Saudi Arabia
Awareness of the technical requirements for proper risk analysis is essential to produce products that comply with the regulations in force in the markets of destination. Specifically, all products intended for Saudi Arabia, to be cleared through customs, must be registered and accompanied by a certificate of conformity SASO.
SASO certification covers all product categories except medical devices, medicines, food and military supplies.
MTIC Group offers a voluntary assessment service, structured in steps that were created to accompany manufacturers in the complex process of certification of their products for the Saudi Arabian market.
INITIAL ASSESSMENT
On-site inspection of the product, product characterization, verification of the documentation (technical documentation, data sheet, user manual, eletrical diagrams, pneumatic system etc.)
RISK ASSESSMENT
Identification of applicable technical regulations, drafting of the risk analysis/gap analysis report, sharing of its contents.
FOLLOW - UP
Control and verification of any changes made to the product by the customers, verification of changes to the technical documentation.
LABORATORY TEST
Carrying out in a qualified laboratory any type tests to verify compliance with the applicable Arabic standards (e.g. eletrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, etc.).
FINAL REPORT & SASO INSPECTION SUPPORT
Issuing of the activity end report, certification practice instruction, pre-shipment inspection and management of relations with the business partner for the issue of the SASO certificate.
G-Mark | Gulf Countries
G-MARK | Gulf countries
As of 1 July 2016, all low-voltage eletrical products exported to the Gulf States (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar) must be G-Mark certified.
The G-Mark is regulated by the Gulf Techincal Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Systems (BD-142004-01), which divides low voltage eletrical products into two lists: List 1 and List 2.
Regulated Products List 1: Self-declaration of Conformity Verification
Manufacturers of List 1 products must have implemented an internal management system - generally a quality control system for production processes and procedures - to ensure that products are manufactured and assembled in a controlled manner by performing tests during production, and that the final production meets the levels of quality and safety required at the technical design stage of the product.
With a management system of this type and the product in compliance with the requirements, the manufacturer must draw up a Declaration of Conformity and may affix the G-Mark on its products.
Regulated Products List 2: Verification by a Notified Body (NB)
All manufacturers of List 2 products will necessarily have to refer to a body, which will examine the technical specifications of the product and verify that the requirements of the applicable Gulf Technical Regulation have been complied with.
The Body will proceed to the documentary verification of product conformity and will verify that the manufacturer has implemented a control system within it, to issue at the end an evaluation report and the Gulf Type Examination Certificate.
Most of the products in List 2 are within the scope of IEC 60335-1 (Household Appliances) and its applicable parts, for example:
- Eletrical fans;
- Refrigerators/freezers;
- Washers/dryers;
- Eletric/food centrifuge mixers;
- Toaster;
- Electric hand dryers/eletric hair dryers;
- Eletric heating appliances;
- Microwave ovens;
- Stoves/Ovens/Gratings;
- Water heater;
- Irons;
- Air Conditioners;
- Plugs/sockets;
- And other products
MTIC Group can support you for the entire certification process: from the testing activities, with the necessary authorizations for the Gulf countries, to obtain the G-Mark.
